Data Sources & Verification
Every figure in BenefitCheck Ireland comes from official Irish government sources. Here's exactly where our data comes from and how we keep it accurate.
Our Data Standards
BenefitCheck Ireland is an estimation tool — not a government service. We take accuracy seriously because people rely on our calculations to make important housing decisions. All HAP rates, social housing income bands, and Working Family Payment thresholds are sourced directly from official publications and verified against multiple government sources.
gov.ie and citizensinformation.ie — Ireland's official government and citizen information portals.
Each local authority publishes its own HAP rates and housing policies. We cross-reference our data against individual council publications for all 31 authorities.
Our housing data file is versioned (currently v2025.2.1) and timestamped. The app displays a freshness warning if the bundled data is more than 180 days old.
Every screen displaying government data includes a visible source attribution with tappable links to the original official source.
All 31 Local Authorities
The table below lists every local authority covered by BenefitCheck Ireland, along with their income band classification and a direct link to their official HAP information page. Income bands determine social housing eligibility thresholds — Band 1 areas (typically cities and commuter counties) have the highest income limits.
